Quick Gutenberg Statistic
Sep. 2nd, 2011 03:29 pmI decided to make a quick estimate of how many people are downloading the books I've put on Project Gutenberg. I pulled up a list of the 170 books at Distributed Proofreaders I've been both Project Manager and Post-Processor for, picked every tenth one, and checked to see how many times they've been downloaded in the last 30 days. The results ranged from 8 to 75, with a mean of about 32. Assuming that's an accurate average, that means about 180 people a day are downloading one of my books from Project Gutenberg. (And a lot of people get our books who don't download them directly, so the actual number is higher by I-don't-know-how-much.)
