Hugo Nominations
Mar. 24th, 2004 08:45 amWhat with one thing or another, I haven't read widely in the field this year, so my nominations are pretty sparse. (I try to be very selective when I'm not sure how strong the competition is.)
For fiction, I nominated Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde and "A Study in Emerald" by Neil Gaiman. (This is the first time I've ever nominated a short story I haven't read, I think. I have had it read to me, however--twice.)
For Related Book, I nominated Sandman: Endless Nights, by Neil Gaiman and various artists, and Zero Girl: Full Circle by Sam Kieth. Comics have a surprisingly hard time getting on the ballot, which I attribute to comics fans being too dumb to read the rules and figure out what category they're eligible in.
For Fan Writer, I nominated Cassandra Claire, James Nicoll, and Richard Horton. Cassandra Claire is the author of The Very Secret Diaries, and James Nicoll and Richard Horton are prolific on Usenet.
